Many of us would like to do something to honor Iris and her devotion to the dhamma, to Luang Por and to the monastery; and in memory of her contagious smile and the twinkle in her eyes and the beautiful way she chanted the request for teachings. Iris was an open-hearted good friend to everyone, whether she knew you or not. Last year Iris and I were seated beside each other during a very crowded event at the monastery and Iris said something about wishing she was wealthy so she could donate money to get the new dhamma hall built already! We joked around about winning the lottery or the Reader's Digest sweepstakes and how much fun it would be to hand over the money to Luang Por Pasanno.With that in mind, I thought that maybe some of us might want to donate to an "Iris Landsberg Building Fund for Abhayagiri" that would honor and memorialize our dhamma sister in a way that I know would make her happy. And as they do in Thailand and elsewhere, we would of course dedicate the merit of that donation to Iris. A card could be presented to her family at her memorial.
